Communication is a skill. Many of us were not taught how to communicate in a respectful and positive manner. We can actually acquire the skills that will allow us to communicate and connect with the ones we love.
I am a trained and certified Imago Relationship Therapist. I can teach you the Imago Dialogue process, and help you move from blame and reactivity to understanding and empathy. With this process, you can transform conflicts into opportunities for healing and growth, and connect more deeply and lovingly with your intimate partner.
You will learn how to reduce reactivity so that you can truly be present and hear what your partner is trying to share with you. When we are reactive or triggered, we move into the “reptilian” or “old” part” of the brain, which is mainly concerned with flight, fight, freeze etc. When we are flooded or in reactivity mode, the thinking part of our brain goes “offline” which makes it impossible to stay present and carry on a meaningful conversation.
Imago teaches us to eliminate the triggering that takes us offline. It teaches couples how to stay present, truly listen with curiosity to what our partners are trying to share with us, and listen without judgement.
